Cycle challenge for MD Tim to raise funds for East Anglian Air Ambulance

Our managing director, Tim, will be swapping pencils for pedals as he embarks on a huge cycling tour of East Anglia later this summer.

The Lap of Anglia is described as a four-day immersive cycling experience and takes riders on a 435-mile loop starting and finishing at the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) headquarters in Norwich.

Riders travel through five counties covering a total elevation of 14,167ft (half the height of Everest!)

The challenge raises vital funds for the EAAA, the UK’s first 24hr emergency medical helicopter service. Operating two helicopters from bases in Norwich and Cambridge and covering the whole of East Anglia, the EAAA costs £17million per year and £3750 per mission.

Since 2013, Lap of Anglia has raised over £233,000 for the charity and our MD Tim hopes that he will be able to significantly add to that total with his ride.

Tim Shakespeare comments: “I’ve enjoyed cycling around the region for many years, but this will be the first time I’ve tackled such an intense cycling challenge over just a few days. The East Anglian Air Ambulance is a fantastic and much-needed local charity, which is why I’m hoping that I can raise as much money as possible to support this important cause.”

If you would like to support Tim in his ride and make a donation to EAAA, please visit his JustGiving page here.

We’ll keep you posted on his progress!
